Anything to eat today...so long as it's courgettes.

Nothing like picking the veg that still feels warm from the morning sun,if I lived in the med. So nothing like picking tepid veg that is drenched from all the rain. Still getting a kick out if it though. The main things growing are the courgettes and mange tout. Courgettes do take over a bit don't they. I wasn't expecting them to be so successful.  Underneath all those courgettes is the garden bench.
We'll learn to love them I'm sure. Maybe courgette pizza tonight as I can hide them under the cheese. Not forgetting the steamed mange tout...again.
I do hope the tomatoes work. There's been lots of yellow flowers for quite a while now.

I think it's quite telling that I cannot decide on a description for this blog. It's the mish mash of my head. Not a frugal site as so many do it better. Home education - nope because we don't now. Crafts - still learning crochet after trying off and on for 10 years - not a natural then!! Maybe it will become apparent as I ramble on. I'll probably post about being a carer at some point because that had huge impact on my life. I currently have a piece on the Nursing Times website about people with Alzheimers on a regular hospital ward. That is something I would like to delve into further - but not here. For now it's nice just to be a part of this and to not worry about hitting the right word count,

  1. Hello, hope you enjoy the blogging, it's good fun.
I'm sure someone has written a book called" what shall I do with all these courgettes" sounds like you might need it!
We sell everything we don't need so a lot of courgettes is a good thing here.

    1. hello and thanks, I read your blog and the selling fascinates me. Also I often get books off your reading lists. Will def look out for the courgette book - the pizzas were a bit yuck.

  2. If you slice the courgettes very thinly lengthwise you can use them in place of pasta in lasagne.

  4. Hello! Lisa from How to be a Domestic Disgrace here :-D

Just saying hello and cheering you on. I still have no idea how to do any of the design stuff - my friend who has marginally more knowledge than me did my design for me, but I still really need to get someone who knows what they're doing ot properly look at it for me. Am a technical doofus.

Also, I am very impressed that you can grow veg. Every time I try, it all dies or is inedible.

  5. Hi Hazzy
Welcome to blogland. I found your blog whilst having a mooch about. I also started reading blogs about being frugal and still have plenty to learn, I don't think we ever stop learning, and then nearly 2 years ago I started to do my own ramblings about anything. My mum also has Alzheimer's and I help my dad look after her, It has now got to the stage now that she no longer recognises either of us.
Looks like your veg growing is doing well.
I look forward to reading more about what you get up to.

    1. Hi Carol thank you for your comment. So sorry about your mum. I hope to write more on that side of things when I find my feet on here a bit. I used to read and write on a great forum http://forum.alzheimers.org.uk/forum.php. Was helpful and supportive. The illness has had a huge impact on how I am today.
      thank you so much
